HUMMEL offers a wide range of cable glands for explosion protection areas. This includes cable glands for ignition protection types Ex d and Ex e. For areas where “Increased Safety” (Ex e) is prescribed, HUMMEL offers plastic and metal cable glands, also with multi or fl at cable inserts. Cable glands for ignition type Ex d meet the requirements for “Pressure-tight Encapsulation”. This prevents transfer of an explosion in the housing interior to the exterior.

The cable gland made of specially formulated, fibreglass reinforced polyamide is designed for use on electrical equipment with protection types Ex e and Ex t. It has been developed according to the DIN EN IEC 60079-0, 60079-7 and 60079-31 series of standards and fulfils the current ATEX and IECEx approvals.
Not all forms of explosion protection are equal. There are different scenarios and areas of application which require different types of explosion protection. Ex cable glands from HUMMEL offer protection in a wide range of environments.
Ex e Increased safety: The cable gland prevents the occurrence of sparks and arcs inside or on external parts of electrical equipment, which do not occur during normal operation.
Ex d Flameproof enclosure: Parts which can ignite an explosive atmosphere are firmly set in an enclosure. The housing withstands the explosion pressure and prevents transmission to the outside.
Ex ta Protection against dust: The cable gland prevents dust from entering the housing in accordance with EN IEC 60529.
